Alloy Development

Alloy Development
Being able to produce materials with customized properties is the foundation of a successful industrial production process. MetaMat leads the way in applied research and development for the production of ferrous metallic alloys. MetaMat specializes in metallurgical processes and alloy development. Research and development in collaboration with the steel and metal industry constitutes a significant part of MetaMat’s business. This generally includes direct research with the industry in conjunction with process and alloy development.

In close collaboration with customers, we develop new and improved alloying concepts via experimental studies. Metals have been an active area of our research in MetaMat Group from the early days of the development of alloying theories, to casting and forming of advanced alloys for the industry, to the understanding of their mechanical behavior and their use in high temperature, corrosive, abrasive and other extreme environments.
Today, metals and alloys continue to be studied by us with the process/structure/property paradigm at the core of developing alloys in many applications. The aim is to understand and make predictions about the effect of chemical composition, manufacturing processes, heat treatment and atmosphere on the microstructural development of metallic materials and hard steel alloys.
